We’re appealing for support during the current coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis to ensure our support of formerly homeless people continues.

Emmaus Village Carlton supports 42 formerly homeless people by giving them accommodation, meaningful work experience, funded training and an opportunity to regain lost self-esteem to help rebuild their lives.

Steve Scott, one of our companions, said: “I spent all my life working hard for very good companies. I was living a great life but beneath it there was a different person, someone who was struggling with keeping up with this persona and eventually this led to me having problems with alcohol. My depression levels hit rock bottom and I lost my job and home. If it wasn’t for Emmaus, I would never have turned my life around. They have given me a place to live and the support I need, as well as the chance to work every day and the sense of self-worth that comes with that.”

The people we support are staying at home and we’re trying to keep everyone safe. Our Home Store and Bistro are closed but the support we offer to formerly homeless people continues. It is vital we do all we can to ensure everyone’s wellbeing and keep a roof over their heads.

We know it’s tough for everyone at the moment, but any gift you can spare will help us get through this difficult time.
