One of our main goals at Emmaus SLC is to prepare our Companions for when they are ready to move on from us.

To achieve this goal, we do what we can to provide our Companions with the resources they need. Training courses and workshops are the best and most accessible way for our Companions to gain new qualifications to help with securing work and to prove to themselves that they can work hard to achieve their own personal goals. We want our Companions to be confident in themselves and their ability to be independent before they part ways with us.

Many of our Companions have enrolled in courses to learn a trade (plumbing, electrics, construction etc.) as well as academic courses such as accounting and economics. We do whatever we can to provide a way for our Companions to pursue their interests.

We always want to ensure that we can provide the best opportunities available for our Companions. Unfortunately, funding so many different courses and workshops for numerous Companions can be expensive and our budget is sadly limited. We have decided to set up a fund with Aviva called ‘Training Fund for Companions’.

The purpose of this is to hopefully raise funds which will all go towards enrolling our Companions on various courses and workshops. Our aim is to raise £2,000 within the next 40 days. If you could spare any money, we would greatly appreciate donations to the Aviva fund. We are aware of the current cost of living crisis and understand that money is generally tight for a lot of people so please only contribute if you are in a comfortable financial position.
