At Emmaus, solidarity is one of our founding principles, and it is something we always encourage and support within all of our communities.

One way in which we encourage solidarity is by hosting events throughout the year to raise funds to help those whose who need it. For Emmaus SLC this year, we are very excited to tell you all about our latest fundraising event, a 24-hour Spinathon!

It will take place over the first weekend of September, starting from 4pm on Saturday 3rd September and concluding at 4pm on Sunday 4th September. Participants will include Emmaus staff, companions, trustees and friends of Emmaus SLC. Each participant will book a slot in which they will pedal non-stop on a static exercise bike for 1 hour. The Spinathon will be a challenging but fun test on the endurance of all those are participating, and there will be plenty of people to support the cyclists with water and encouragement throughout the 24 hours.

Our goal is to raise £2,500 for Emmaus communities in Ukraine, Romania and Poland. You can read about the current situation facing Ukrainian refugees in these communities via this Emmaus Europe link:-
