We are celebrating the start of dress up season at the launch of a brand new fashion, vintage and retro store, with a competition to win local tickets to watch a RuPaul Drag Race performer and an ITV star.

Customers who create the best outfit by spending £20 or more at Emmaus Fashion, Vintage and Retro at 25 Fishergate at the launch event on Friday 30th September will be in with the chance of winning one of three pairs of tickets to see Funny Boyz Preston’s ‘ITV’s Kylie Minogue vs BBC’s RuPaul Drag Race’ cabaret night. This features RuPaul Drag Race USA star Cynthia Lee Fontaine and Kylie from Stars In Their Eyes.

Free cake and refreshments will be available at the charity shop on launch day. During the week leading up to the event, students can take advantage of a 10% discount at the new store, upon the presentation of a valid university ID card.

Prizes for best outfits

Emmaus Preston and Burnley Head of Retail Joseph Broadhurst said: “This is the fifth of our charity outlets to open in Lancashire, but the first dedicated to fashion, vintage and retro. The opening of this new store increases the total retail space of our social enterprises to over 100,000 square feet, so you’re sure to find what you’re looking for when you shop with Emmaus in Lancashire.

“Whether that is fabulous fashion, shoes and accessories, to new bedroom suites, white goods and preloved furniture, on sale at our other stores, all proceeds help Emmaus Preston run a household, provide support and create better life chances for people who have been homeless.

“We’re all very much looking forward to seeing the outfits people create for the competition at the launch event for our new charity shop, and give away show tickets to the best entries.”

Help people into work and training

People supported by Emmaus Preston and Burnley are helped into education and training, develop skills and boost CVs by working in the sale of second hand and new goods at charity’s five stores, which include shops on Deepdale Mill Street, Brookfield Street, Emmaus Department Store in Rochdale and next door to the new store on Fishergate.

Funny Boyz Co-founders Linda Gold and Dys Alexia said: “We at FunnyBoyz believe that we all have a responsibility to give back. No one becomes successful without lots of hard work, support and a little luck. The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others, and that is why we love what Emmaus does.”

People who would like to enter the competition on social media can post pictures of their outfits on the day of the launch event with proof of purchase, tagging Emmaus Preston with hashtag #EmmausFinds. Winners will be announced after the weekend.
