How long have you been associated with Emmaus Gloucestershire?

9 years.

Can you summarise what Emmaus Gloucestershire does in one sentence?

To support formerly homeless people to get back into “normal” society.

Share a memory of your time at Emmaus Gloucestershire

The first time I went to an all community BBQ at our house. It was great to spend time with companions, staff and volunteers and everyone being equal.

What does solidarity mean to you?

Helping and supporting people who are less fortunate than me.

What does a typical day at Emmaus Gloucestershire involve for you?

No such thing as a typical day!

What is your favourite thing about Emmaus Gloucestershire and why?

The people because we all strive for the same goal – combatting homelessness and supplying items that some people wouldn’t otherwise have.

Which Emmaus Gloucestershire shop is your favourite and why?

Nailsworth because it’s an absolute treasure trove.

What is the strangest donated item you have come across at Emmaus?

A coffin.

Describe one highlight from your time at Emmaus Gloucestershire

Every time a companion moves on in a positive way.

Name two celebrities you would invite to a dinner party at Emmaus Gloucestershire

Barak Obama and Bruce Springsteen.

What do you value most in a friendship?

Honesty.

What do you feel most grateful for?

My family and friends.

What has been your biggest achievement so far?

Raising two children who still speak to me!!

Who has been the biggest influence in your life so far?

My wife.

Where is your happy place, and why?

Home because I’m surrounded by people and things that mean everything to me.

What is one thing that motivates you?

Knowing what we do at Emmaus Gloucestershire makes a difference.

What is your favourite hobby?

Watching my beloved Gloucester Rugby.

What is something new you have learnt since being at Emmaus Gloucestershire?

To never judge people.

Michael Heap who was Chair of Trustees and took me on to do this job.

Name one thing that you like to do to relax

Listen to music.

What are you looking forward to this year?

Work – opening a new store.
Personal – travelling.

A sense of belonging which I’ve never experienced in any other organisation.
