We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on the recent support our charity has received from Schreiber Foods, a global food company with a vision to do good through food. As they worked to establish their factory in Gloucestershire throughout this year, we have been extremely fortunate to receive incredible ongoing support, and we are excited about Schreiber’s plans to support us long term.

Headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin, in the United States, Schreiber is a customer-brand leader in cream cheese, natural cheese, process cheese, beverages and yogurt. Its newest facility in Stonehouse specializes in making process cheese that you enjoy on your favorite cheeseburgers.

With annual sales of more than $6.8 billion, Schreiber partners with the best retailers, restaurants, distributors and food manufacturers around the globe. Schreiber also recognizes its responsibility to do good in the world and is driven to make a difference in everything they do.

More than 2,000 volunteer hours

Earlier this year, as the construction of the Schreiber Foods factory in Stonehouse was underway, they demonstrated their dedication to our cause. Schreiber’s team volunteered with us several days a week, every week. They have put in over 2,000 hours of charity work in 2023 so far whilst waiting for the site to be completed. Their efforts made a huge difference to our charity, as they lent a hand in various tasks, including helping us deliver and collect furniture in our vans and assisting in our charity shops.

Commenting on the support given to our homelessness charity,  Brad McNeely, Plant Manager at Schreiber, said: “We wanted to connect with the community quickly upon establishing ourselves and were very excited to find an organization in Emmaus that shares our values and that we could work with to accomplish good.”

Factory launch party

The Schreiber factory had its official launch party on 9th June and our staff members Lorraine and Jo attended to help celebrate their inauguration. Here are some before and after pictures of the factory:

Future support

As for future support, we’re delighted to say that Schreiber plans to continue to develop a meaningful relationship with our charity working up to, and beyond, their Week of Giving each October. They plan to offer support in many ways from raising funds to giving partner time, plus work experience for our companions.

Our charity supports people to rebuild their lives after experiencing homelessness by providing accommodation, meaningful work experience, training, and tailored support. We are always looking for ways that we can increase our offer and the opportunities available to our companions, and this ongoing support from Schreiber will help us to do just that.

Lorraine Watson, Operations Manager at Emmaus Gloucestershire, said:

“We are very grateful for the commitment Schreiber has made to support Emmaus Gloucestershire. The amount of volunteering their partners did with us throughout the year has been incredible. Corporate partnerships like this are so invaluable to our charity and we look forward to working with Schreiber to create life-changing opportunities for our companions.”
