This 18 February Emmaus Dover held the most recent of our popular jumble sales. These regular events allow customers to fill up a bag with brilliant second-hand goodies for only £5. With the recent tragic aftermath of the earthquake unfolding in Syria and Turkey, our staff and companions wanted to make the jumble a solidarity event, which means that all of the proceeds from the day will go to Emmaus UK to distribute to the Turkey & Syria appeal.

To date, the Red Cross have reported that at least 45,000 people have died as a result of the earthquakes, with many thousands more injured.

Retail Supervisor Ryan Burrows said: “Solidarity is at the heart of what we do at Emmaus, and it was a joint decision by the companions and staff to dedicate the proceeds from this sale to the Earthquake appeal. We are proud to be part of a global movement which prioritises solidarity and compassion.”

Our jumble sale raised £1,113, which is £300 more than our previous record total for a jumble sale. We are delighted to be able to donate this amount to help support the victims of the earthquake.
