Thanks to the Saturday Fund, and to local Dover-based company Megger, we have two new defibrillators on site. The first is in the companion’s accommodation, and the second is in the shop, meaning that there is access in both our public and private spaces.

All of our staff and companions – including Kierun pictured above – have received training on how to use the defibrillators, provided by our regular First Aid trainer Abby.

Debra Stevenson, Community Manager at Emmaus Dover said: “It’s very important to us that we are a safe and inclusive community, and that we are always looking for ways to enhance our community spaces. The provision of equipment of this kind, and of the training to use it, is very valuable.”

Companions at Emmaus Dover regularly receive free training, which provides transferable skills, experience and qualifications that they can take with them as and when they are ready to leave our community. We are very grateful to the Saturday Fund and to Megger for providing these valuable resources, and for their ongoing support of our community.
