We would like to say a big thank you to Bulldog Tools Garden Club for donating tools to our Community Tree Nursery at Trewoon, with an estimated value of more than £700!
We are opening a tree nursery on a three-acre site near St Austell to generate income to support people out of homelessness, provide volunteer opportunities and meet the need for locally grown trees. Our Community Tree Nursery, which is at Trewoon overlooking Carlyon Bay, will grow both native broadleaf trees from seed local to Cornwall as well as non-native trees. Through volunteering sessions, we aim to create a nature-based hub for people in St Austell and its outlying parishes.
The project is the first of a number of planned social enterprises for our charity, with funds generated from the sales of trees helping to provide income to assist the opening of an Emmaus community in Cornwall. There are already 30 established Emmaus communities across the UK providing a home, work, and training to support people out of homelessness and back into employment. Our own Emmaus Cornwall community will be the first of its kind in the Duchy.
We are absolutely thrilled to have received support from Bulldog Tools and the donation will be a great help to us as we embark on our new social enterprise. If you would like to make a donation of garden tools, please get in touch by emailing [email protected]
