Our Reuse & Recycling Manager Tom Blight is gearing up to run 12K to support our work with rough sleepers.

Local man Tom has signed up for the Stevington 12K which will take place on Sunday 19th September.

This well established annual event is back for its 39th year in 2021. The route will take Tom through country roads and the villages of Oakley and Pavenham in Bedfordshire.

Tom is currently in training for the 12K, and is asking people to sponsor his efforts via his Justgiving page:  www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tom-blight5 with everything raised going to fund supplies for Emmaus Village Carlton’s ‘Rucksack Stomp.’ This group of companions volunteer in Northampton and Wellingborough town centres every week, offering help to those sleeping rough. The self-titled ‘Rucksack Stomp’ team arrives carrying large rucksacks filled with food and useful supplies to hand out. Find out more about our Rucksack Stomp.

Tom says: “I would love to raise some funds to support the fantastic work that is done by the companions at Emmaus Village Carlton in supporting them in their weekly rucksack stomps in Northampton and Wellingborough.

“Personally I have let fitness standards slip in recent times and hope that making myself accountable and trying to raise as much money as possible, gives me the motivation I need to get myself back into a respectable shape and finish this run in the best time possible.

“Please give what you can and help me in my training and getting across the line.”
