We’d like to say a big thank you to the charitable arm of Bedford Blues Rugby Club, Blues Foundation, who recently visited to donate 84 frozen meals for our companions at Emmaus Village Carlton.

The meals were funded by money raised by the Blues Foundation as part of their fundraising campaign called ‘Run, Row, Ride’,  generating proceeds in support of meals for vulnerable people who are impacted by the COVID-19 crisis in Bedfordshire.

Blues Foundation have so far raised over £1,500 which has allowed them to prepare and deliver meals with Blues’ catering partners, Portfolio Events.

The fundraising challenge involves encouraging local people to either run 3km (and donate £3), row 6km (and donate £6) or ride 9km (and donate £9).

Blues Foundation Manager, Tom Harwood said: “We are desperate to join the efforts to support people in Bedfordshire throughout this current crisis. Using fitness challenges is a great way to keep physically healthy and support your own mental health during this difficult time.”

The initiative brings together Blues Foundation; Portfolio Events, who is supplying the meals at lower than cost price with every pound raised resulting in a meal for the vulnerable, and the new High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, Sue Lousada.

Commenting on the project, the High Sheriff added: “I’m very grateful to both Blues Foundation and Portfolio Events for supporting those in need in our community. It is an amazing collaboration, thank you and good luck.”
