Emmaus Village Carlton makes pledges for big environmental impact.

Supporters of Emmaus Village Carlton have joined the ‘Small Action, Big Impact’ (SABI) environmental initiative run by Luton-based company Cawleys Waste Management.

A team from Cawleys recently visited us to talk to staff and supporters about the importance of the reducing, reusing and recycling. Over the course of the day, thirty pledges were made by staff and volunteers, including our Chief Community Officer Angela Foll (pictured).

Thirteen hundred people across Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire have already signed up to SABI making one of nine pledges, so far including: to recycle metal, paper, cardboard; use reusable coffee cups and plastic bottles; and ensure food waste is composted.

Anna Cawley, Director of Customer Service at Cawleys Waste Management said: “Small Action, Big Impact is an initiative from Cawleys designed to shine a spotlight on how people from different organisations can individually make small actions which once put together, make a big positive impact – just like the work Emmaus do to support people who have experienced homelessness which already has a huge impact on everyday lives of everyone involved. I’m so pleased to welcome them on our SABI crusade.”

Cawleys collects waste from Emmaus Village Carlton which will be sorted through the company’s Materials Recycling Facility in Luton ensuring that all resources are recovered.
