Handy Person Volunteer
Sussex Emmaus is preparing for a major refit of our largest retail area, the charity superstore, in early 2026. We are looking for a skilled, reliable, and proactive Handy Person Volunteer to support this transformation. Your contributions will help maintain and improve our retail space, directly benefiting the people we support and helping us achieve our long-term social enterprise goals.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out general maintenance, decorating, and minor repairs
- Assisting with the installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment
- Ensuring tools and materials are maintained and stored safely
- Identifying potential maintenance issues before they become problems
- Reporting complex repairs or safety concerns to the Facility Manager
- Working collaboratively with staff, companions, and other volunteers
- Following health and safety guidelines at all times
Please note: this role does not include professional electrical or plumbing work.

- Willingness to carry out light to moderate physical tasks
