“Your support really does have a life-changing impact on people’s lives.”

An appeal from Sir Terry Waite CBE

It’s not right that people in our society are facing homelessness at any time of year.

But at Christmas, it becomes even more stark. Everybody should have the chance to experience the joy and hope of Christmas with other people, their friends and family.

As many of us prepare for the holidays, there are people just trying to find somewhere safe and warm to stay, often scared and alone. As you may know, during my years in captivity I experienced first hand how lonely it can be when you’re cut off from the family and friends that you love.

Christmas is also a time for celebration and coming together. For many Emmaus companions, their Emmaus community becomes their extended family. Others reconnect with their relatives and friends, thanks to the stability and opportunities they get whilst at Emmaus.

Thanks to your donations, Emmaus communities across the UK can provide much more than a place to stay, but a community where they feel welcomed.

From training, education and meaningful work experience to supporting people to move on into their own homes, your support means Emmaus is there to help people all year round.

Please give what you can this Christmas – your support really does have a life-changing impact on people’s lives.

Sir Terry Waite CBE, Emmaus UK President
