This week, we’ve released exclusive tickets for a three-course fundraising dinner hosted at Thorpeness Country Club. The dinner on Friday 27th September will include an inspiring talk from Sir Terry Waite.

As Emmaus UK’s President, Sir Terry Waite has generously supported Emmaus Suffolk since our opening in 2016. Sir Terry will entertain guests with a fascinating talk about his experiences being held captive in Beirut and his uplifting outlook on life.

The 3-course dinner is a great way for you to support our charity and the work we do supporting and empowering vulnerable, socially isolated, long-term unemployed people and those at risk of homelessness in Suffolk. Emmaus Suffolk currently runs six weekly wellbeing hubs that support people with therapeutic arts activities and create a safe space to connect with their local community.

We are hosting the dinner to raise funds that will enable us to expand our services into East Suffolk.

Sir Terry Waite says “It’s been a real privilege to see Emmaus Suffolk grow over the last few years with the support of the Suffolk community. The organisation delivers absolutely exceptional services that are so needed. I look forward to the fundraising supper to meet other supporters of Emmaus Suffolk.”

Sir Terry Waite was kidnapped and held captive for almost five years in Beirut. He spent 1,763 days in captivity after being kidnapped by terrorists while trying to negotiate the release of hostages as the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Special Envoy. He spent the first four years in solitary confinement. Sir Terry became President of Emmaus soon after his release in 1991.

Our CEO, Claire Staddon says “We’re seeing a huge uptake in our services currently, and wish to continue growing to support different areas of the county that are disadvantaged and marginalised. This fundraising supper will mark the start of an exciting new project in East Suffolk and as always, we are so grateful for the support of local people.”

Guests to the fundraising dinner will enjoy a Champagne reception followed by an inspiring interview with Sir Terry Waite and enjoy a 3-course meal before a Q&A session where Sir Terry will answer audience questions.

The supper held at Thorpeness Country Club, The Benthills, Leiston, IP16 4NU will begin at 18.30 and end by 22.00. Tickets can be booked via emmaussuffolk.com/shop.
