We are really happy to announce our upcycling workshop is reopening to non-residential companions this week following the COVID-19 lockdown.

In the workshop, our volunteers can learn how to turn a disused piece of furniture into something stylish by repainting it in recycled chalk paint. The furniture is then sold in one of our three social enterprises. Volunteers can use their creative abilities, learn a new skill and gain a sense of satisfaction when a happy customer takes home a chic new item.

Being creative helps our volunteers gain confidence in learning something new. Graham honed his creative skills in our workshop for a while before moving into employment and reconnecting with his family.

“Emmaus helped me clear my head and refocus on what I want to do with my life.”

In the future, we plan to offer upcycling workshops and craft classes to the public, enabling the workshop to become self-supporting.

The workshop will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
