Emmaus Suffolk works to support vulnerable, socially isolated or long-term unemployed people and those at risk of homelessness across the county. One of the ways we offer this support is through our groups and workshops, held regularly in our centres in Felixstowe and Ipswich.
These groups are free to attend, and are open to everyone. They offer a supportive and friendly safe space to relax and enjoy yourself, with the Emmaus team on hand to provide help to anyone who may need it.
Guests to the group can take part in a range of different craft activities, including our popular sewing group, upcycling workshops and learning new skills such as glass painting, making candles and silk art.
For those who would prefer something less hands-on, visitors to our groups are welcome to play games, build puzzles, read a book or simply take the opportunity to simply enjoy a cup of tea and a chat with fellow visitors.
At Emmaus Suffolk we understand the difference being engaged in meaningful work can make to people, so group attendees are encouraged to volunteer within our shops if they want to, although there is no pressure to do so. Tasks includes sorting donations, upcycling and cleaning items and serving customers. These activities not only help to develop new skills but also boost the confidence and self-esteem of those volunteering.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions we are asking visitors to our hub to call in advance to book. Please call Emma on 07393 583914 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a time to come and see us.
