Emmaus Suffolk is now able to help even more people in Felixstowe who may be experiencing social isolation, exclusion and long-term unemployment thanks to the launch of an additional Felixstowe hub.

We work with vulnerable, socially isolated people and those at risk of homelessness across Suffolk. We run popular drop-in sessions at our hubs in Ipswich, and since October 2020 have run similar sessions from our shop near Felixstowe train station. These drop-in centres have been incredibly successful in engaging with people in the community who may otherwise be isolated or experiencing loneliness.

Due to a growth in demand for the service, we are now running an additional support session in Felixstowe.

The new hub will open on Wednesday 7th July at Old Felixstowe Community Centre, Ferry Road, Felixstowe and will run every Wednesday at 10-12pm.

This will run in addition to our existing Felixstowe session which runs Monday afternoons 1-3pm at the Emmaus Suffolk shop in Great Eastern Square.

The hubs are free to attend and although they will eventually be drop-in sessions, due to current Covid-19 restrictions attendance is currently by appointment only. Please call Emma on 07393 583914 or email [email protected] to let us know you are attending.

Guests to the group can simply enjoy a drink and a chat with fellow visitors or they can join in with some of the craft and upcycling activities on offer.

Members of the Emmaus Suffolk team will be on hand to offer support and advice to attendees of the group on a range of topics, from job seeking, benefits, budgeting and looking after your physical and mental wellbeing.

Claire Staddon, Chief Executive of Emmaus Suffolk, says:

“We were very excited to launch our hub in Felixstowe in October last year, but since then the popularity of the hub has grown so we need to increase capacity and launch a second hub so more people can access support.

“The impact of social isolation has increased as a result of COVID-19 restrictions so we are keen to do whatever we can to help the people of Suffolk through this.

“If you live in Felixstowe or the surrounding area and are feeling a bit isolated or lonely, please call Emma on 07393 583914 or email [email protected] We would love to welcome you in for a cup of tea and a chat.”
