This July and August, Emmaus Suffolk is offering free meals for under-16s at our community café, the Royal Oak, throughout the six-week summer break.

No need to buy an adult meal, no need to book – just come in, relax, and let us help take the pressure off.

The kitchen team has prepared a menu of kid’s classics like fish fingers and chicken goujons with chips and vegetables, so every child leaves with a full tummy.

Claire Staddon, CEO of Emmaus Suffolk, shares: “We have been offering free meals mid-week for school children, and we wanted to extend this support to help people through the long summer holidays. With so many demands on parents and carers, we can help them out by ensuring kids have had a healthy, nutritious meal, and they leave with a full belly. Our café is a safe, supportive place where children can play and carers can socialise. We welcome any family who needs a bit of help this summer.”

Additionally, every Saturday throughout the summer, you can enjoy a BBQ in the café’s garden, with a mix of BBQ favourites, fresh salads, and healthy choices – and with kids eating free, it’s a simple, affordable way to enjoy summer weekends together.

We will also continue to run our Kids and Carers Club every Wednesday and Thursday morning at the Royal Oak, providing a safe space for children to play and for carers to connect with others.

Free kids’ meals will be available every Wednesday to Saturday, 12pm–3pm, from Saturday 19 July. Come down a grab a bargain!

Let’s make this summer a little brighter for families across Ipswich.
