At Emmaus, we’re very fortunate to have incredible partners and supporters who help us to continue the vital work we do.

This year, our corporate supporters, Suffolk Building Society, are aiming to complete 175 good deeds to celebrate their 175th anniversary. One of these amazing, good deeds will be completed by the building society’s Head of Technology and Transformation, Ian Long. Ian is taking on an epic 175-mile walk – the distance between all the Suffolk Building Society’s branches to raise money for Emmaus Suffolk.

Ian hopes to complete the walk, accompanied by his dog, over 7 days in September and early October, travelling between 20 to 30 miles a day.

Ian shares, “I want to prove to myself that I have the strength, determination, and drive to take on and complete a challenge like this. I’m keen to show people that it is possible to go through challenging times but still thrive on the other side and not let it hold you back. I haven’t personally experienced homelessness, but I’m very aware of how anyone can be affected by it and lose their home. I want to show that, with the right support, any challenge can have a positive outcome.”

We’re so grateful for Ian’s and the Suffolk Building Society’s support. We wish him all the luck for this challenge!

Fundraisers like Ian’s make an incredible impact on our charity and support the work we do to empower people and provide a fresh start for those who have experienced homelessness.
