Companions pitch up in the Brecon Beacons
A group of Companions went camping during the August Bank Holiday weekend, in the beautiful setting of the Brecon Beacons, to enjoy some leisure time and to bond as a group.
The Companions set off early on the Saturday morning from Bridgend and drove themselves to the outskirts of the Brecon Beacons, using the newly purchased Community van.
Once the Companions had arrived and chosen their spot, they worked together to pitch up their tent, so they could then relax and enjoy their time off, surrounded by the beautiful peaks.
Companion Andy, who has been with Emmaus South Wales since the Community opened said “We were able to let our hair down and relax. It allowed us to get to know new Companions outside of the Community setting, and make them feel part of Emmaus South Wales.”
In the evening, the Companions made the most of the fine weather and enjoyed a BBQ. Marc, a Companion whose usual cooking environment is the well-equipped kitchen in the Community, wasn’t fazed by cooking on the BBQ.
The Companions thoroughly enjoyed their Bank Holiday weekend and were grateful for the Community Van and Leisure Fund, that allow this type of activity to take place.
Companion Andy, said “We wouldn’t have been able to go camping for the weekend if it wasn’t for the new Community van. It has allowed us to get out, have a break and talk to each other. It is definitely something we want to do again, just not in the winter.”
At Emmaus South Wales we feel it is essential for Companions to have time to socialise, bond and experience new things. If you would like to support Companion Leisure, visit our Impact website. Where you can donate to us with ease.
