To celebrate this year’s Trustees’ Week, we are thanking all members of our board for the vital contribution they each make to the success of our charity.

Trustees’ Week is annual event to showcase the great work trustees do for charities up and down the UK.

There are just over 1 million trustees in the UK and here at Emmaus South Wales, we’re lucky to have a supportive and dedicated board who bring a variety of skills and experience to help steer our work and develop our charity.

They each play a vital leadership role in our charity, working together to make important decisions and taking strategic responsibility for our work supporting people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion.

Thanking the Emmaus South Wales Board of Trustees is Julie Raikes, Chair of Trustees, who said:

“This year has been a particularly challenging one for most charities and Emmaus South Wales has been no different.  Of course having a good CEO, Senior Management and Staff Team is fundamental to ensure the charity operates effectively however supporting that team and our companions is absolutely vital, not least during such a challenging year for them.  Alongside that of course we must continue to review our future, our offering and ensure we are staying ahead of future challenges and opportunities. Fortunately, due to a focus on developing our Board early this year I have had the amazing support of nine other trustees, all of whom bring totally different skills, experience and importantly, views to our discussions.  This has provided both a great balance of ideas but also key support in so many ways.  There have been times where being Chair has felt a little overwhelming but I am always reminded by my fellow trustees that we are in this together and that we will succeed together.  When a board works in this way it is inspiring and dynamic, my thanks go to everyone of our trustees for their contributions, particularly over the last eight months.”
