Today, Emmaus South Wales welcomed members of the public to its community site in Bridgend for an Open Day event. The day provided an opportunity for visitors to learn more about the work being done to support people who have experienced homelessness, and to meet the team behind the scenes.

Exploring the Grounds and Meeting the Team

Attendees were able to take a look around the accommodation and gardens, gaining a better understanding of daily life at Emmaus. Staff and Companions were on hand to answer questions, share their experiences, and explain the organisation’s approach to providing a home, training and work opportunities as part of a package of long-term support.

Activities and Refreshments

Horse shoe throwing proved popular and created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There was also a chance to enjoy refreshments, including a fantastic selection of homemade cakes prepared by Chef Tony, which were particularly well received.

Learning and Getting Involved

Guests also had the chance to hear personal stories from people who have been supported by Emmaus, offering insight into the challenges of homelessness and the role that community can play in recovery. Information was available about volunteering opportunities, including roles in retail, gardening, cooking, cleaning, and creative work.

Thank You

Emmaus South Wales would like to thank everyone who took the time to attend and engage with the event. The day helped raise awareness and strengthen local connections. Anyone interested in learning more or volunteering can read more here.
