We were delighted to celebrate the opening of our brand-new charity superstore, Trysor Cudd (Hidden Treasures), in Bridgend, marking an exciting milestone in our mission to combat homelessness in South Wales.

Our 10,145 sq ft superstore, located at 1 Tondu Road, officially opened its doors on Saturday, January 18. We were honored to have Jay Flynn MBE, Emmaus UK Ambassador and Radio 2 Breakfast Show Quizmaster, join us for the opening. Jay shared his inspirational story of overcoming homelessness, making the event even more special for everyone involved.

A Store with a Mission

Trysor Cudd is much more than just a charity shop. It’s a space for the entire community. We’ve created a hub where local organisations and charities can hold meetings and interviews free of charge, bringing people together for a common cause.

Angela Davey, our Retail Manager, shared her excitement about this new venture:
“We are thrilled to be opening our new store, Trysor Cudd, which means ‘Hidden Treasures’ in Welsh. The incredible support we’ve received to reach this milestone has been truly humbling.

We envision Trysor Cudd as more than just a charity shop; we want it to serve as a vibrant hub for the entire community. With three times the space compared to our previous store on Tremains Road, ample parking, and exciting new opportunities, we’re eager to make a positive impact.”

This new store helps us continue to raise awareness about homelessness while generating the funds we need to provide homes, tailored support, training, and meaningful work experience for people who have experienced homelessness.

Sustainability and Support

At Trysor Cudd, we’re passionate about sustainability. The store features a wide range of pre-loved furniture, homewares, electricals, clothing, and accessories. Plus, our easy-to-use “donation station” makes it simple for you to drop off your pre-loved items and help make a difference.

Bringing the Community Together

We were thrilled to welcome Jay Flynn MBE to help us officially open the store. His words about the power of community and the importance of spaces like Trysor Cudd resonated deeply with us:
“It’s fantastic to see the incredible work that has gone into opening this new store, and the fact that it will benefit so many—not just Emmaus but the wider community as well.

We are in an era where the word community seems to be very lost, and it is vital places like this harness that spirit. Congratulations to all involved in making this happen, and we move another step closer to ending homelessness for good.”
