Members of our charity attended the annual Emmaus Assembly, which took place on Sunday 12 and Monday 13 June in Hinckley, Leicestershire.

Attending the event was our Chief Executive Jemma Wray, who gave a talk about her recent participation in the Emmaus World Assembly held in Uruguay. Joining Jemma for the two-day event was companions Roland and Angela, as well as our Chair of Trustees, Julie Raikes.

During the event, the Emmaus South Wales group teamed up with people from other communities and Carina Aaltonen, Chair of Emmaus Europe, to take part in the evening quiz, winning first place and receiving a special ‘Emmaus Superstar’ medal.

Commenting on the event, Julie Raikes, said:

“What a fantastic Assembly it’s been. So many ideas shared, inspirational talks from those who had attended our International Assembly in Uruguay, sharing what some of our 426 Emmaus groups around the World are doing. Well done to our CEO, Jemma Wray for her feedback. What homelessness charity has almost half of its delegates as beneficiaries? Companions at Emmaus are instrumental in making our policy and great to have our President, Terry Waite closing the event with passion. So very proud to be part of this wonderful organisation. There are so many more people who need our help, time to get to work, time to #shoutlouder. AND…….we won the quiz!”
