You can now visit us, shop and support our charity on Wednesdays each week.

Since opening our doors in August 2021, the Emmaus South Manchester Emporium has steadily grown, along with the number of people who visit us each week. Over the past few months, Thursdays particularly have become very busy with queues of up to 40 people waiting for the doors to open in the morning.

The next step in our growth and evolution is to expand our opening hours over four days instead of three. From this week, our Wythenshawe Emporium will open on Wednesdays from 10am to 4pm, in addition to Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Gavin Bryson, Operations Supervisor at Emmaus South Manchester, said: “We’ve been planning to add Wednesday to our opening days for a while now, and as of Wednesday 26 April, our Emporium will be opening four days a week. To keep up with demand, we have more capacity to complete collections and deliveries. We’ll be restocking at the end of each day so no matter which day you visit us, they’ll always be fresh items out for sale.

“If you have any good quality furniture, household items, electricals or clothing going spare, please bring them to our charity when we’re open or request a free furniture collection. Our charity store is getting busier all the time and we’re very grateful to everyone who shops with us, donates items, volunteers and supports Emmaus South Manchester in other ways.”

All proceeds from the sale of items at the Emporium go towards our aim of opening an Emmaus community to support homeless people and those suffering social exclusion. Emmaus communities don’t just offer a bed for the night. Instead, they provide a home and companionship for as long as someone needs it, as well as support, training and meaningful work in a social enterprise.
