Emmaus South Manchester has launched an emergency appeal for help to fund a replacement collection and delivery van.

The majority of our income is generated in their social enterprise which sells donated furniture and household items. The van is an essential part of our charity’s operations, collecting donations and delivering sold items to and from our Wythenshawe Emporium charity store.

Frances Hirst, Chair of Emmaus South Manchester, said: “Our current van was donated to us by another charity and is now showing signs of its age. This inefficient van is regularly off the road due to maintenance issues, preventing our team from carrying out scheduled collections and deliveries.”

“We regularly need to hire a van for short periods at significant cost and are now in desperate need of a replacement van. Our charity is now appealing for funds to help us purchase a newer, more reliable and energy-efficient vehicle. Any funds you can spare will be greatly appreciated and help us take a big step towards our charity’s goal.”

Keep us on the road

Proceeds from the Emporium go towards our charity’s aim of opening an Emmaus community to support homeless people and those suffering social exclusion. Emmaus communities don’t just offer a bed for the night. Instead, they provide a home and companionship for as long as someone needs it, as well as support, training and meaningful work experience.

We are looking to raise at least £20k to fund a replacement Luton van with a tail lift. We’re also keen to cut our negative environmental impact by purchasing a van with lower emissions and improved energy efficiency.

Donate today to help us towards our van appeal fundraising target.

Cash and cheque donations are also welcome at the Emmaus South Manchester Emporium, St. Andrew’s Methodist Church, Brownley Road, Wythenshawe, M22 0DW.
