Emmaus South Manchester accepts a wide range of furniture, household items and other goods, but there are some things we cannot accept due to legal, practical or environmental reasons. Please read on to find out the items we can and cannot accept.
Items we can accept:
- ✅ Books
- ✅ Bric-a-brac
- ✅ CDs, Vinyl and Cassette tapes
- ✅ Christmas items (decorations, bric-a-brac, etc)
- ✅ Clothes, shoes and accessories
- ✅ Computer games
- ✅ DVDs and VHS tapes
- ✅ Electrical appliances (TVs, music players, sewing machines, vacuum cleaners, etc)
- ✅ Furniture (see exceptions below)
- ✅ Garden furniture
- ✅ Household textiles (bedding, blankets, curtains, etc)
- ✅ Kitchen appliances (e.g. fridges, freezers, electric cookers, etc)
- ✅ Office chairs
- ✅ Lamps and lampshades
- ✅ Soft furnishings with a valid 1988 Fire Safety Label (sofas, armchairs, beds, mattresses, etc)
- ✅ Tools and gardening equipment
- ✅ Toys (with a valid CE Safety Mark)
- ✅ Vintage and retro homewares
Items we cannot accept:
- ❌ Bicycles
- ❌ Carpets
- ❌ Computers, tablets and mobile phones
- ❌ Disability equipment (such as wheelchairs)
- ❌ Electric or gas fires
- ❌ Exercise equipment
- ❌ Gas bottles
- ❌ Gas appliances including cookers
- ❌ Office furniture
- ❌ Printers and photocopiers
- ❌ Soft furnishings without a 1988 Fire Safety Label (sofas, beds, mattresses, etc)
- ❌ Tins of paint, paraffin, petrol or any other flammables
- ❌ Toys without a valid CE Safety Mark
- ❌ Used duvets and pillows
- ❌ Very large furniture items (e.g. large wall units)
- ❌ Items in a damaged or unsalable condition.
