Emmaus UK has received a generous donation from leading sock and hosiery retailer SockShop, thanks to proceeds raised from sales of their 2020 Advent Calendar.

By donating 15% of the sale of each 25 Days of Christmas calendar, the brand raised an incredible £17,839.49 for Emmaus UK.

The calendars were available in ladies’ and men’s sizes and included a pair of fun and festive socks for every day of December in the run up to Christmas Day. With each purchase, SockShop customers supported Emmaus to continue their work, offering opportunities to those in crisis and improve the lives of men and women around the UK.

Commenting on the initiative, Alok Ruia, Director of SockShop, says: “We are delighted to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Emmaus, one of the leading homeless charities in the UK, and the pleasure of being able to make a donation based upon the sales of our Advent calendars. This builds upon the success of last year, and we hope we will be able to continue this for many years to come.”

Simon Grainge, Emmaus UK Chief Executive, says: “This is the second year running that Emmaus has received proceeds from the sales of SockShop’s Advent calendar. 2020 was a life changing year and the global pandemic means more people than ever risk losing their homes. We know we have a lot to do if we are to respond to this new and unprecedented challenge and SockShop’s support will help us to do this. We would like to say a huge thank you to every customer who purchased one of the 2020 calendars – it really does make a difference.”
