Following the story on 13th January 2016 Andy has worked hard on the roads running 5, 10, 15 and 19 miles and has now completed last Sunday’s London Marathon in 5 hours 45 minutes.  His efforts after many months of preparation have proved well worth it with the presentation of the medal.

During the run he progressed well with loads of support from fiancé and the crowd until he hit the wall at 19 miles but that wasn’t a problem as he smashed through to complete the course.  Andy said: “I was wearing the green Emmaus Lambeth shirt but didn’t have my name on it and the running companion I was with was called Marshey.  Supporters called out come on Marshey and the ‘guy with the green teeshirt’.  This support and my fiance popping up and cheering me at different places helped me so much to finish”.

Asked how Andy felt the next day, he said: “I went to the bus stop the following day which was only 50 yards away but it took me 20 minutes to get there”.

Asked if he would run the Marathon again, he said: “Although it was the hardest thing I have ever done, now I’ve started there is no stopping me”.

Well done Andy and we can truly call you Marathon Man.
