Lloyd's Story
Lloyd struggled at school due to undiagnosed dyslexia, was expelled at 15, and served two years for armed robbery. He then drifted for 20 years, working cash jobs and sofa-surfing, ashamed of his past.
In 2019, Lloyd joined Emmaus Sheffield, was diagnosed with dyslexia, and earned his Level 2 Health and Social Care qualification, leaving in 2023 as a Trainee Youth Worker.
When the charity closed in June 2024, Lloyd returned to Emmaus Sheffield, where he’s now preparing for his next opportunity.
“Sometimes things go wrong in life and you have to step backwards in order to move forwards. I feel like I belong here and I am very grateful for them for giving me another chance.”
