Emmaus Salford is toasting a year of support from Warburtons who have donated 10,000 loaves of bread to our charity.

Since April 2020, Warburtons has donated 200 loaves of bread each week to Emmaus Salford. The loaves are shared between our Emmaus community – home to 24 formerly homeless people – and local residents who are members of Lucie’s Pantry.

Brett Warburton, Executive Director at Warburtons, said: “Supporting those who need it the most has been something our family business has always done, but it is perhaps needed now more than ever. We are proud to be supporting a great charity who does so much to help those in most need in Salford.”

Emmaus Salford supports formerly homeless people by providing them with a stable home, meaningful work and support for as long as they need it. Whilst at Emmaus, people gain skills, experience and confidence by working within the our social enterprise and Lucie’s Pantry social supermarket.

Lucie’s Pantry provides food and household essentials to Salford residents struggling to make ends meet through debt, illness or low income. There are currently 200 members of the pantry who receive items on a weekly basis. In addition, we also provide emergency food parcels to vulnerable residents across the city.

Magnificent support

Rachel Richardson, Community Director at Emmaus Salford, said: “Since last April, our charity has received twice weekly deliveries of fresh bread from Warburtons. These donations have been gratefully received by the people we support and helped to reduce our food-costs during a challenging period. Everyone at Emmaus Salford and Lucie’s Pantry send their huge thanks to the Warburtons team for their ongoing magnificent support.”

Bolton-based Warburtons employ nearly 5,000 people across the UK and produce over 2 million bakery products each day. As part of their ‘Families Matter’ philosophy, Warburtons provide over 7 million meals to food banks, breakfast clubs and charitable organisations to help those that need it the most.
