Companions from Emmaus Salford have got in the Christmas spirit by volunteering to help the Rotary Club of Salford with Swinton.

We supported the club on three separate nights, with one of our companions dressed as Santa, riding a sleigh around the streets of Worsley. Despite the fun and festivities there was some serious work to be done as we were helping the Rotary Club in their Christmas fundraising efforts for Lark Hill School.

Emmaus Salford volunteers helped to knock on doors and drum up donations for the Christmas fundraising appeal. Just under £1,000 was raised and the money will be used by the school to send their pupils on an outdoor activity trip to Cheshire.

Emmaus Salford supports formerly homeless people (referred to as companions) by offering them a home, meaningful work in a social enterprise and an opportunity to get back on their feet again. The concept of solidarity, helping others less fortunate than yourself, is also the central ethos of Emmaus and a motivation for the volunteers who assisted the Rotary Club.
