A donation of 14,000 toothbrushes to Emmaus Salford has put a smile on the face of workers at charities, groups and volunteers across the Greater Manchester city region.

The donation of toothbrushes by Mulberry Innovations has been shared amongst 12 charities and groups working to support vulnerable people across Greater Manchester. As well as being used by beneficiaries of Emmaus Salford, the toothbrushes will be used at local hospitals, hospices and groups supporting elderly or vulnerable residents.

Recipients of the toothbrushes include St Ann’s Hospice, Salford Foyer, Humans Manchester Royal, Manchester Action on Street Health (MASH), The Launch Project, Emmaus Bolton, Lucas Project, NHS Salford, Salford City Council and volunteers making comfort bags for the NHS.

Osman Nidai, Managing Director of Mulberry Innovations, said: “We are extremely happy to hear that our donation to Emmaus is supporting lots of different groups and that many people are benefiting. Our team at Mulberry Innovations is proud that we’re able to support different communities across the country through this difficult period.”

Support for Emmaus

Mulberry Innovations is a leading manufacturer, importer and distributor of cleaning, hygiene and bespoke products to the professional, wholesale and retail sectors. The Essex based firm has supported Emmaus UK by donating items to Emmaus Salford and other Emmaus communities across the country.

Emmaus Salford supports 22 formerly homeless people by providing them with a stable home, meaningful work and support for as long as they need it. Emmaus operates three charity stores in the city as well as Lucie’s Pantry social supermarket, which offers food and household items to people on a limited income.

Rachel Richardson, Community Director at Emmaus Salford, said: “The donation from Mulberry Innovations is possibly the largest donation of a single item that Emmaus Salford has ever received.

“We knew that only a small fraction would be needed for use at our community and Lucie’s Pantry, but that other local groups and charities could really benefit from these. We put the call out to our partnership network and all 14,000 toothbrushes had gone within seven days.”

Despite the restrictions imposed due to coronavirus, Emmaus Salford is continuing to support its community of formerly homeless residents and members of Lucie’s Pantry. All Emmaus charity stores in the city are temporarily closed but the charity is appealing for monetary donations to help during the coronavirus crisis. Learn more and support Emmaus Salford today.
