Huge thanks to delivery station employees from Amazon in Leyland for delivering a fundraiser on a 1.5km zip line in support of our homelessness charity.

Keen on supporting Emmaus Preston in one of the most challenging ways possible, five members of the team from the Amazon Leyland delivery station on Redrose Drive recently set off on Velocity, the world’s fastest zipline in Bangor, Wales.

The brave-hearted folk raised more than £800 in sponsorship from friends, family and colleagues in aid of the charity that supports people building back from homelessness in Preston.

Danielle Jeffries, Amazon Logistics Shift Manager at Amazon in Leyland, said: “Our team had a great time on the zipline, helping raise funds for a very worthy cause. We are proud to be supporting the valuable work Emmaus Preston does in our local community.”

Emmaus provides a home, support, training and work opportunities for up to 26 adults with experience of homelessness. The charity provides individualised packages of long-term support to help people rebuild and move back into everyday life.

Supporting our Preston charity

Over the course of several months, the Amazon delivery station in Leyland teamed up with Emmaus to deliver career insights and practical interview tips in a series of workshops for people supported by the charity. The Amazon team also welcomed people being supported by Emmaus for a behind-the-scenes tour of the delivery station.

Stephen Buchanan, Emmaus Preston’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Amazon Leyland team for their support. The funds raised mean a great deal for Emmaus’ work with our residents, helping people access the resources and opportunities they need to rebuild their lives. The tour and mock interviews were also hugely beneficial in helping people recognise the opportunities that are available as Emmaus helps people with the next steps in their journeys.”
