The Mayor of Preston and Emmaus Preston are appealing for curry-lovers to attend an upcoming charity fundraiser at The Silk Route restaurant.

Emmaus Preston’s Charity Curry Evening will take place on Tuesday 24 March at The Silk Route Indian fusion restaurant on West Strand in Preston. The evening will raise funds for The Mayor of Preston’s nominated charities including Emmaus Preston.

The Mayor of Preston, Councillor David Borrow, said: “I’m very pleased that Emmaus are organising this event for the Mayor’s charity fund. I’m sure we will all have a great night and come away with a better understanding of the valuable work Emmaus carry out here in Preston.”

The Mayor has selected Emmaus Preston as one of his four nominated charities along with cancer charity Rosemere, veterans charity Dig in and a charity in Malawi which supports orphans, Friends of Mulange Orphans.

Emmaus Preston supports formerly homeless people by providing them with a stable home and meaningful work for as long as they need it. The charity helps people build their skills, experience and confidence to break the cycle of homelessness.

Emmaus Preston operates three large social enterprises in the city offering a wide range of furniture, domestic appliances, clothes, bric-a-brac and vintage goods. People supported at Emmaus work alongside local volunteers to run the social enterprises, providing valuable work opportunities whilst generating an income to help sustain the support offered by the charity.

Stephen Buchanan, Director of Emmaus Preston, said: “The evening is a chance for our local supporters and curry-lovers from across Preston to get together for a good cause. We are extremely grateful to The Silk Route team for hosting this event and look forward to enjoying their delicious Indian food.”

Tickets are priced at £16 and 50% will go directly to the Mayor’s charities. Vegetarian options are available and group bookings are welcome. To book tickets email [email protected]
