Emmaus Oxford is delighted to be supported this autumn by the staff and customers of Yorkshire Building Society’s Oxford branch, who are encouraging the local community to donate essential items for people experiencing homelessness.

From 1 September to 30 November, donations can be dropped off at the Yorkshire Building Society branch at 127 High Street, Oxford. All items collected will go directly to our outreach team, who provide year-round support to individuals sleeping rough in the city. With colder weather making life on the streets especially difficult, these donations will help provide comfort and dignity during the toughest months of the year.

As part of their Cause Collections initiative, the Oxford branch is asking people to contribute much-needed items, which will be distributed during Emmaus Oxford’s Thursday evening outreach project.

The items most needed this winter include:

  • New socks and underwear (men’s and women’s, various sizes)
  • Gloves and hats
  • Packets of sweets
  • Small shower gels
  • Toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • Fresh body wipes
  • Deodorant
  • Air-activated hand warmers
  • Sleeping bags

Laura Bristow, Fundraising Manager at Emmaus Oxford, said: “We are so grateful to the staff and customers at Yorkshire Building Society Oxford for their support. The items donated will make a real difference to people living on the streets of Oxford this winter, providing warmth, comfort, and dignity. I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who chooses to give to this important cause.”

Emmaus Oxford is hugely appreciative of the generosity of the local community and looks forward to working with Yorkshire Building Society to make this collection a success.
