We’re appealing for your help to complete our brand-new move-on house!
Emmaus Oxford received a legacy in 2022 which enabled us to purchase a house next door to our current premises. This ‘move-on’ house will be available for companions transitioning out of the Emmaus community, playing a crucial role in the journey towards independence and stability.
Plans have been drawn and approved for a total of 10 en-suite bedrooms, spanning across both the new house and the adjacent property Emmaus Oxford has owned for sometime. We are now at the construction stage and appealing for donations to help fund the final costs, including fixtures and fittings such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Talking about the move-on house, CEO of Emmaus Oxford Eddie Blaze said ‘As we celebrate our 15th year, it is now time to expand our accommodation to meet the demand for support. Oxford has one of the most expensive housing in the country as well as insufficient social housing to meet demand. Companions ready to move-on from community living face the issue of finding a suitable and affordable home in an area of high rents and low supply extremely challenging. This project will give companions the chance to progress to the final stage of their homeless journey by providing them with secure, independent accommodation that is affordable, alongside training in how to manage a tenancy and budget for day-to-day living, giving them the best possible start in their new home and reducing the risks of becoming homeless again’.
On behalf of everyone here at Emmaus Oxford, thank you for your continued support.
