Emmaus communities provide a home and meaningful work for people who have experienced homelessness, helping them to find a way to move on with their lives.
From house clearances to getting involved with the wider community, we offer a wide range of services.
Our volunteer work is more vital than ever
We’re proud that we’re still working hard to provide our weekly help for local rough sleepers.
We’ve managed to adapt how we do this to ensure everyone’s safety and maintain social distancing.
For over a year now, a group of our formerly homeless Emmaus Oxford companions has volunteered to support those currently sleeping rough. Each week, the team hands out hot food and useful supplies, as well as advice.
As you can see – our team’s now all prepared with masks and other protective clothing – and is busy preparing for this week’s session. Every Thursday between 5.30pm and 7.30pm, rough sleepers are offered free food, supplies and advice in front of our Emmaus building at 171 Oxford Road.

Following the Government’s announcement yesterday, our charity store will close with immediate effect until further notice.
All collections and deliveries, as well as our House Clearance service are currently suspended. We are unable to receive dropped-off donated goods for resale at this time.
Our eBay and Depop shops are also currently closed but we are looking into the possibility of reopening these in future.
Our community will continue to support formerly homeless people to rebuild their lives, and the wellbeing of our companions, staff, volunteers and local community will always be our priority. We are really grateful for your support during this uncertain time and we will keep you updated.
If you feel able to help us through this period by donating to our Emergency Appeal online, it would be very much appreciated.
Stay safe everyone.
