Emmaus North Staffs fielded a team of runners to take part in the Alton Towers 10K race for the second year in a row.

The team of nine came together on Saturday 16 November, to help to raise awareness for our Beds for Kids campaign, which was launched in 2022.

Nick Pilgrim of Cinerobota, Veronica Kitton of VK Business Assist and Matthew Tolley of Hayo Energy joined Executive Lead at Emmaus North Staffs, John Webbe. Sarah Biggs, of White Dove Wills & Planning and Sonia Price of Careers at Recruitment also took part and were accompanied by family members.

All runners completed the course and have so far raised around £2,000.

John said: “It was a tough course again, but everyone did really well and we all completed it.

“There are around 9,000 local children without a bed and since we launched our Beds for Kids campaign we have provided more than 300 beds to local families.

“The statistics really are heartbreaking and we aim to support as much as we can, therefore by coming together for things like the 10K race are really important and we thank all those who have supported us.”

Emmaus North Staffs work to end furniture poverty in North Staffordshire.

Since launching our campaign we have supplied more than 300 bed kits. Each bundle includes a new bed, mattress and bedding and costs approximately £225.

In 2023 a team of eight runners took part in the Alton Towers 10K and helped to raise around £5,000 for the campaign.
