Our Executive Lead, John Webbe, spoke about our ongoing work to address furniture poverty in an interview being aired on Cross Rhythms City Radio’s Business Spotlight show, which is run in partnership with PR & Media firm BabaBaboon.

John was interviewed on the community station serving Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme by Sonya Farrall, Babababoon’s Creative Director, and you can listen in at 4.15pm today (Tuesday 11 June).

Sonya asked John about our vital work addressing furniture poverty through our successful Beds for Kids campaign, as well as our work in partnership with local councils and housing associations to offer free items to over 850 households without access to essential furniture and appliances.

John told Sonya that we’d achieved our target to provide 100 brand new beds to vulnerable children by April of this year, two months early, demonstrating our huge commitment to help struggling families locally.

“Proud to support their vital work”

Sonya said: “It was great to chat with John and highlight the often hidden issue of furniture poverty, which sadly is a reality for many households, yet seems to go under the radar.

“We also spoke about how businesses like ours can work with charities to support their fantastic work, as we do with Emmaus North Staffs and are proud to support their vital work.”

John said: “A huge thank you to Sonya from Babababoon and Cross Rhythms City Radio for hosting me on the show and publicising the work we do to help end furniture poverty in and around Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

“Furniture poverty affects more people that you would think which is why donations to our charity are vital to help equip people with the very basics of living. Every item we receive can be repurposed to help people most in need, whilst avoiding tonnes of landfill waste, so we are enormously grateful for every donation.”

John and Sonya’s interview is scheduled to be aired across Cross Rhythms City Radio on 101.8FM from today on the station’s Business Spotlight segment aired on City Drive at 4.15pm.

Business Spotlight is also aired on Wednesday 12 June at 1.10pm on Community Choice and on Thursday 13 June at 8.15am on the Breakfast Show. The station can be found on frequencies 101.8FM and 96.6FM.
