We’re excited to announce that Emmaus North Staffs is expanding and relocating to a newly renovated site, just a few minutes’ walk from our current location at The Potteries Centre.
Since May 2022, we’ve had the pleasure of running our charity shop on the lower floor of The Potteries Centre. This space has allowed us to diversify our offerings to the public, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received over the past two years.
As we continue to grow, we’re moving to a larger site on New Hall Road in Hanley. The 60,000-square-foot building, formerly home to GO Outdoors and Tesco, will not only house our charity shop but also our emporium, which was previously based in Etruria. This move means we can bring everything, including our home and furniture warehouse, under one roof—an exciting milestone for our charity.
Preparations are already underway, and our Potteries Centre shop will close on Monday, 30 September. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to our new site from Monday, 7 October.
John Webbe, our Executive Lead, shared: “We’ve had a fantastic experience at The Potteries Centre, and we’re so grateful to the entire Centre team for their support over the last two years. The shop has been a wonderful space, but as we grow, it’s time for us to relocate to a bigger premises. Bringing everything together under one roof is really exciting as we move forward.”
Amy Whittaker, manager of The Potteries Centre, added: “We’ve loved supporting Emmaus North Staffs and wish them all the best in their new chapter. The team has been amazing to work with, and I’m sure they’ll continue to succeed in their new location. With them just down the road, I’m sure we’ll still be frequent visitors!”
Our charity shop manager, Tish Cooke, said: “We’ve really enjoyed serving our customers at The Potteries Centre and have met so many wonderful people. We can’t thank Amy and her team enough for their support. While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we’re excited for what’s to come. The new site has some exciting plans, and we can’t wait to welcome the public in October.”
Emmaus North Staffs works to prevent furniture poverty and recently won the Business in the Community – Charity category at the 2024 Staffordshire University Business Awards. We support around 850 local households each year by providing essential furniture, including beds, sofas, tables, wardrobes, and appliances. Our new location will stock all of these items and more, and we’ll be open to the public six days a week starting in mid-October.
