Emmaus North Staffs is proud to announce the launch of a vital new project, made possible thanks to generous funding from The National Lottery Community Fund. This three-year initiative will provide essential crisis support to families in need across the local area, building on the charity’s long-standing commitment to tackling poverty and social exclusion.

With this funding, Emmaus North Staffs will create a dedicated crisis support team focused on helping families referred through its existing support network. The new team will deliver holistic, tailored support to address a wide range of challenges – from food and furniture poverty, to financial hardship, health and wellbeing concerns, educational barriers, and emotional needs.

The overarching goal is to help families build resilience, improve their quality of life, and integrate positively into the community. This support is designed not only to meet immediate needs but also to equip families with the tools they need for long-term stability.

A key feature of the project will be monthly workshops open to referred families and the wider community, offering practical advice and support around household budgeting and debt management. These sessions will aim to reduce isolation, improve financial literacy, and empower individuals to take control of their circumstances.

The project will also work closely with the charity’s Beds for Kids initiative, ensuring that children and young people have a safe and comfortable place to sleep. A good night’s rest is crucial for their health, development, and success at school. By supporting families to create a nurturing home environment, the project hopes to improve both physical and emotional wellbeing – helping children to thrive and families to sustain their tenancies.

Over the next three years, Emmaus North Staffs aims to:

• Engage 2,000 individuals and provide direct, in-depth support to 600 of them

• Support around 2,250 households (reaching an estimated 9,000 individuals)

• Deliver 300 bed bundles, 100 new furniture items, and 300 reusable furniture items to families in need

This ambitious and compassionate project would not be possible without the support of National Lottery players and the National Lottery Community Fund. Their investment is helping to bring meaningful change to the lives of some of the most vulnerable in our communities.
