We are absolutely thrilled to have won the ‘Outstanding Social Enterprise’ award at the North East Charity Awards 2024.
This recognition is a huge honour and highlights the important work we’re doing at Emmaus North East to combat homelessness and alleviate poverty in our region.
One of our proudest achievements over the past couple of years has been the launch of Lucie’s Laundry, a free-to-use community launderette we opened in 2023. We were moved to act after hearing troubling reports of local children attending school in dirty clothes due to a lack of washing facilities. Since then, Lucie’s Laundry has helped over 6,000 people from all walks of life, providing them with not just clean clothes but also dignity and support in tough times.
This award is a testament to the tireless efforts of our team, partners, and supporters. We will continue to work hard to make a lasting impact on the lives of those facing hardship in the North East.
We’d also like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the other charities who were shortlisted for this award. It’s inspiring to see so many organisations working hard to make a positive difference in our region, and we’re proud to be part of such an incredible community.
We are also incredibly proud to have been shortlisted for the ‘Trustee Board of the Year’ award. Our board of trustees plays a vital role in the success of Emmaus North East, offering unwavering dedication, expertise, and guidance. Their passion for our mission to end homelessness and alleviate poverty is evident in everything we do. Being recognised in this category is a testament to the strength of our leadership and the collaborative efforts that drive our charity forward.
