Emmaus North East is pleased to announce a new partnership with South Shields Football Club, sponsoring player Ewan McGowan for the upcoming season.
Our new partnership with South Shields FC highlights a shared commitment to community development and charitable initiatives in South Tyneside.
Through this partnership, the Emmaus North East logo will feature prominently in match programmes and across South Shields FC’s social media platforms. The football club has also pledged to provide work experience for companions, in roles such as ground maintenance.
Ruth Parker, Chief Executive of Emmaus North East, shared her enthusiasm for the partnership:
“We are delighted to support South Shields FC by sponsoring Ewan McGowan. This partnership not only increases awareness of our work but also aligns perfectly with our mission of giving back to the local community. The club is dedicated to promoting charitable work across South Tyneside, and we’re thrilled about the ways they plan to support us in return.”
This initiative has generated great excitement among our companions, many of whom are passionate about football. The sponsorship will also include a special feature whenever Ewan McGowan scores a goal, as well as invitations to various club events throughout the season.
The partnership reflect our commitment to building strong local connections and ensuring a brighter future for individuals facing homelessness. With South Shields FC’s presence in the community, this collaboration promises to make a lasting impact.
Carl Mowatt, Operations Director of South Shields Football Club, expressed his enthusiasm for the club’s partnership with Emmaus North East.

The transformative work they do, often saving and changing lives, fills us with pride, especially given their presence here in South Shields. This partnership reflects our club’s commitment to being a central pillar in the local community.”
South Shields FC has pledged to work alongside Emmaus North East in several meaningful ways, including inviting the companions to attend matches, hosting bucket collections at games, and amplifying awareness of our work through their outreach efforts.
Mowatt also shared his personal commitment to supporting Emmaus North East: “Later this year, I will be undertaking a challenge to raise funds and awareness for the incredible efforts led by Ruth and her team. We are always ready to support such vital work.”
