This year, Emmaus North East celebrates 15 incredible years of changing lives and building a brighter future for those affected by homelessness. Since 2009, we have been dedicated to offering a unique, supportive environment where people can rebuild their lives, regain confidence, and create lasting change.

Over the past 15 years, we’ve helped hundreds of people find stability and purpose. At Emmaus North East, we provide more than just a roof over someone’s head. We offer the opportunity for people to become part of a community, regain skills, and restore their sense of dignity. Our companions live and gain work experience together, supporting the community through social enterprise, from running charity shops to upcycling furniture.

Our impact over the last 15 years

We contribute around £500 worth of essential goods each month to support vulnerable individuals.

Over 6,000 people have benefited from our community launderette.

Over the past decade and a half, we have contributed to sustainability efforts by repurposing, recycling, and reducing waste.

15 years of solidarity

Solidarity is at the heart of everything we do at Emmaus North East. In addition to supporting companions as they rebuild their lives after experiencing homelessness, we actively engage in solidarity actions to assist other causes, charities, and community initiatives. Over the past 15 years, we have proudly carried out numerous acts of solidarity, demonstrating our commitment to making a positive impact beyond our immediate community. Here are some examples of our efforts:
Lucie's Laundry, a free community launderette
Marley, our temporary foster dog!
Lucie's Pantry, a temporary social supermarket
