Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney has received a donation of plants worth £300 from The Plantsman’s Preference to be used in a sensory garden that is currently being created by residents.

The Plantsman’s Preference, located in South Lopham, has been growing and selling an extensive range of Hardy Geraniums, Ornamental Grasses and Unusual Perennials in Norfolk since 1996 but due to the COVID-19 epidemic is temporarily closed to visitors.

Tim Fuller, who is a member of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Floral Trials Panel runs The Plantman’s Preference and kindly donated a variety of plants to Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney. The donation will be used in a sensory garden that is being created by Emmaus residents as one of many projects the community is embarking on to help stay positive and busy during the lockdown.

The Plantman’s Preference donation:

Commenting on the donation, Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney Chief Executive, Cecile Roberts, said:

“We would like to say a huge thank you to Tim at The Plantsman’s Preference for his kind donation to our sensory garden, which our residents are so enjoying creating.

“Meaningful work is an important part of the support we offer to people who are overcoming homelessness and it is often key to helping build their confidence, self-esteem and dignity. Even though our shops are temporarily closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the support we provide as charity to our residents continues.

“Residents have chosen several projects to embark on to stay busy and help the local community, including this sensory garden, as well as creating furniture from pallets and growing plants and produce for the elderly and vulnerable. If any businesses or individuals would like to help with any of our garden projects, then we are gratefully accepting donations of plants, seeds, pots and gardening equipment and can arrange a non-contact pick up.”
