At Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney, we recognise that volunteers offer a valuable resource by giving their time, dedication, skills and knowledge and we invite people to come and work alongside our companions.
We have a wide range of varied and interesting volunteering opportunities on offer. We are looking for:
Our volunteers are a rich mixture of people of all ages and backgrounds, who have sympathy with the values and objectives of Emmaus and want to help the community. Volunteers need to have good social skills – be able to chat and listen with interest and have a good sense of humour. Our volunteers drivers need to be safe and competent, and able to work with others. Volunteers are not expected to provide support to companions.
We aim to give volunteers meaningful responsibilities, effective supervision and recognition for work done. You’re likely to get to know the companions well. This is immensely positive and one of the main reasons why Emmaus communities work so well.
Discover the feel-good benefits of friendship, sharing interests and skills as a valued member of our community. Just one session a week could make a huge difference.
Do you have a talent or skill you would like to teach companions at Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney? We are always looking for volunteers that can teach companions skills that will help them in the future or train them in a certain area of employment.
Retail: Could you teach our companions merchandising techniques, customer service skills, how to deal with complaints, or how to work as part of a team?
Life skills: Could you teach our companions budgeting skills, gardening skills, cooking and healthy eating skills, interview skills, or how to search for jobs?
Fitness & Sport: Could you coach our companions in a sport such as football, yoga, running, or general fitness?
So if you looking for something interesting to do and want to share our journey, please get in touch. We reimburse reasonable travel expenses and provide a meal if you work a full day, as well as offering training and development opportunities for our committed volunteers.
Contact us by email or by phone on 01986 895444.
Lynda, Emmaus Volunteer.
Volunteering at Emmaus has given me the opportunity to get out and do things again. I feel useful here, get to help a great cause, and meet a lot of different people.
