Emmaus Norfolk and Waveney are currently inviting blacksmiths/jewellery makers to work with our pioneering Women’s Only Project.

This project houses 9 women who have experienced domestic abuse, coercive relationships and sexual violence. The project provides therapeutic courses in these areas as well as providing opportunities to engage in creative workshops to improve wellbeing, skills and confidence. Any works created in the workshops are sold our social enterprises.

This role will see applicants design and facilitate a nine week course in blacksmithing/jewellery making for up to 10 women. You will support women to learn new skills and increase their confidence in producing metalwork items. Items made by the applicant and women taking part in the course must be suitable to be sold in our shops or for display on our site.

We have a fully equipped forge on-site with all necessary equipment including a power press. Successful applicants will be able to request further equipment and supplies if necessary.

During the one year pilot of the women’s only project, creative workshops will be held in different blocks and terms. The metalwork 9-week block will take place in June & July and applicants must be available during this period to facilitate 18 workshops. Workshops will run for 6 hours a day with 1/2 hour unpaid lunch with a cooked meal provided. Sessions will run from 9am – 3pm.

Successful applicants must be able to ensure that they:

  • Are skilled at blacksmithing/jewellery creation
  • Have experience working with or supporting vulnerable adults
  • Have the ability and skills to facilitate groups
  • Have sufficient course material to fulfil the desired work period
  • Can produce items to be sold in our social enterprises
  • Have sufficient transport to reach our site in Ditchingham

Desired qualities are:

  • Approachable and caring character
  • Training or experience in safeguarding vulnerable adults
  • Previous experience in similar roles
