We are a small community with big plans and have the capacity to support up to 23 companions at a time. We will soon be completing building work which will allow us to open 9 new resident rooms. Therefore, this means we will be able to support 32 people. Everyone who joins is willing to turn a hand to whatever is needed.
We live alongside the Anglican Community of All Hallows, as such we live quietly and peacefully in what is for us a rural idyll.
When a person joins our community as a companion, they are provided with an individual bedroom, all meals in a communal dining room, and normal living expenses covered. There is no time limit. This stability helps people to rebuild their lives following homelessness.
To be accepted at Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney, a person has to sign off all benefits with the exception of Housing Benefit. Emmaus claims this to help to support the community.
Most people stay for a few months but some leave after a short time and others stay for years.
