Would you like to join our community?

We are a small community with big plans and have the capacity to support up 32 formerly homeless people, or companions. Alongside a home, Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney provides meaningful work opportunities to those living here with us, and everyone who joins our community must be willing to turn a hand to whatever is needed.

We are a non-religious organisation, open to people of all faiths and none. We do, however, live alongside the Anglican Community of All Hallows, and as such we live quietly and peacefully in what is for us a rural idyll.

When a person joins our community as a companion, they are provided with an individual bedroom, all meals in a communal dining room, and normal living expenses covered. There is no time limit. This stability helps people to rebuild their lives following homelessness.

To be accepted at Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney, a person has to sign off all benefits with the exception of Housing Benefit. Emmaus claims this to help to support the community.

Most people stay for a few months but some leave after a short time and others stay for years.
